Looking at a used b2100 Kubota. I am new to the tractor scene but have been doing quite a bit of homework recently. I have 5+ acres 2.5 finish mowed and around 3 pasture that I need to keep up with. Lots of tree work for the forseeable future as the ground have not been well kept. My questions are as follows:

1) Will the b2100 be nimble enough to finish cut the yard (comes with a 60" mmm)?

2) Will the b2100 be able to run a bush hog or other such implement of sufficient size so as to work on the 3 acres of pasture in a reasonable amount of time (would like to cut this at least twice per month)?

3) What are the good and bad features of this tractor? Anything to watch out for?

4) What is a fair price to pay for a 1998 unit with a 60" mmm and FEL (~450 hrs)?

5) I also need to clear about 700' of gravel driveway in the Winter. My inlination is to use a rear blade and possibly the FEL for this chore. Any other suggestions?

The other units I am considering are a bx2200 and a JD2210.

Any input would be appreciated...

I can't give you any specific advice about the 2100, but that tractor will do what you will be asking of it. If you are going to be bush hogging twice a month, you should be able to do the three acres in under three hours with a 4' cutter. Is that reasonable to you?
I think the plan to use the FEL and blade for snow plowing is great. If you live in the snowbelt, you might want to consider a 3pt mounted blower.
I have a BX and love it, but I think your situation is more suitable for the 2100 or similar.

Will,

Thanks for the feedback. Just curious, why don't you think the bx is up to the task? Unfortunately, I cannot compare them side by side. The b2100 has 21hp whereas the bx is 22. The bx seems to have a lower center of gravity than the b2100. Just curious as to why you think the b2100 is better suited to the task...

More than anything else, I think the bush hog work would be more suited for the B tractor. You are going to get more ground clearance, and ease of attaching the cutter with the B tractor. While many use the BX with three pt. implements, the attaching can be tricky, with limited height and tight lift arm adjustments.
The BX does have a lower center of gravity. I can go places on slopes that my brother can't. He has a B2400, the same tractor as a 2100, just with a different 24 hp motor. The BX , IMHO, will do a nicer job finish mowing. I guess you will have to decide what is more important to you.

i have a 99 b2100 gear drive w/ 150 hrs i was using it to cut approx. 20 acres w/ a 48 in woods cutter.. it would cut all day long w/ no problem, other then the fact it took all day and then some.it has the l 301 fel and a kubota 54 in mmm. the mower did a good job ie. even cut no scapling.since i have had the tractor i have had no problems w/ it. i have since purchased a mx5000 (see profile) to help maintain the property(135 acres)it does what the b2100 did only faster and also more h/d tasks that only a larger tractor can.the b2100dt 4wd listed for 12890. used range is between 8120 and 9160. depending on condition. then the cost of attachments must be added. hope this helps..(ps i have kept the b2100 to do close up work around the house etc. besides i become attached to my toys i mean tools)

I've owned my 98-B2400 for 4 years. I bought it used w/120 hrs. on it. It came with the 60"MMM. I just added an LA352 FEL this past spring. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm quite happy with this tractor.

To answer your questions:

1)Yes, I cut my 3 acre yard with it. It's not a ZTR like my neighbor, but an FEL would look kind of funny on his Exmark.
Many here prefer the BX's suspended deck, but I'm quite satisfied with the cut on the B.

2) I have not used a bush hog. I yield to the posters from NY.

3) A couple of the feature I don't like;
PTO lever location- Don't sit too soon! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

(They relocated these on the B2410)

Useless headlights

4) I paid $10,800. That 8120-9160 figure sounds right on. Adding the MMM and FEL I guess you'd be around $12K. (2K for the MMM and $3.3K for the FEL-new)

5) I've only used the FEL to clear snow once. The back blade is much more efficient. Of course, a snowblower is even more efficient.

Good Luck-this is part of the fun! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
