hello everyone, I am currently looking at a jd970 with fel and cab, can anyone tell he what the weight of this would be?

Here's a start. The bare weight of a 970 2WD is 2670 pounds. A 4WD 970 weight is 3045 pounds. There was no factory cab for the 970 so it must be an after market unit you will have to provide more info on. Is the FEL the factory model 80?

Also, welcome to TBN!

yes it is 4wd, 80 loader, note sure about the cab but it looks to be all steel with heat

With 4WD 3045 + 800 for the #80 loader ( I have a 6' bucket ) and I bet around another 300+ for the cab. If no fluid filled tires, around 4200 lbs.

Thnx it should be ok with my trailer

For me the big factor is how long. I have the 8A backhoe on the back and the thing is 20' long. Weight at around 5000 lbs is easy for the trailer, just hangs over both ends of a 16' trailer on both ends.

really... 800 lbs for that loader? I am in the process or rebuilding one that I bought for my 1070- would have never guessed it weighed that much, though it only has a 55" bucket- still probably close though

Only had mine a couple if months, runs like a top so far. Issues to be addressed still. But for the price I can't complain. 8A backhoe needs new pins and bushings, #80 loader is out of square to the machine. Once the snow starts to fly, I'll move it into the shop and start working on it. Don't think the repairs are going to take long. I'm retired and have more time than money. Hope once dialed in that this will be my final tractor.

I think my 1070 is a good machine. I bought it for a good price and it probably wasn't taken that good of care of but I have done a few small things to it and it is pretty reliable. Most issues I have had have been electrical- bad connections at some of the plugs. Some I still haven't addressed completely, the fuel and temp gauges work when they feel like it, again bad connectors. It seems pretty bullet proof mechanically.

My only complaint is that while it has plenty of power, it has real wide turfs and is 2wd so is not a real great puller. Not the tractor's fault and this will hopefully be solved if/when I switch to loaded r-1's. With the wide tires also, I need to get wider attachments than is practical to cover the tracks. I am about 78" wide so really would need a 7' box blade, but with those tires I don't think I could pull it well. When I switch to the r-1's I will be right under or at 6'. This is one reason I would have reservations about an 870 or 970 is that they are physically the same saize but with less power, I wonder if that would make to low of a power:weight ratio. I bush hog with a 6' mower and don't think I would do it with much less power, however a smaller mower would be too small for this machine I think.
