All I've got to say is Deere is nuts if they think I'm going pay $145 for a new fuel gauge that's worth about $20. I'm not doing a restoration, so I'll be buying some sort of aftermarket fuel gauge. That's just insane!

Yeah. I found some on ebay for about $17, but they are a different part number. Based on the applications listed for them, I betting that they are probably 24V.

While i was taking apart my dash if i recall correctly it looks just like a regular gauge.

Oh, it is... it's a 2-1/16" gauge. A 10-180 Ohm (empty/full) gauge would suffice and aftermarkets are readily available and affordable. I just can't see why Deere seems to think so highly of theirs. Their price is even 50% more expensive than a replacement tachometer which is a much more mechanically complicated gauge.

I just traded an 855 so I know what you're talking about. Heck, we replace a tach on one of our 4020's for less than that. I think their around $90.

That makes the fuel pickup I need seem more palatable.

The gauge on my 855 that I traded was off anyways. It would run out at about 1/4th a tank.

That's a pretty common problem. There is a piece of hose that attaches to the end of the pickup tube and extends on down to the bottom of the tank. If that peice of hose comes off the pickup tube, it will start sucking air long before you get to the bottom of the tank.
