8n hydraulics

I have a 8n that the lift arms lift up and down in the power troll position on the little lever under right side of seat. But when you change the lever for normal use it will not move the arm at all . With the plow on it it lifts and holds it for transport but in the ground the power troll will not raise as the going gets tough. Pulling 2 -12 bottom plow. Any Ideas on where to start?

so you are saying that with the lever up in position control, tha tthe lift works correctly.. but does not work when down in draft?

With the lever in the "Draft Control" position, the depth control lever should adjust "how much load it takes to lift the implement"... The lift "sensor" on my NAA is the top link mount on the back of the tractor... Load is when the plow digs into the soil... the lift lever will increase or reduce the amount of load before the plow "lifts up" to reduce the load.... If the plow does not lift when all the adjustments have been made, move the top link up in the mount to the middle or upper most mounting hole..... the upper most hole is the most sensitive on my NAA....

should work the same on the N.. though the hardware under the cover will be drastically different.

The lever when in the down position (draft control) it works as far as it lifts and lowers the arms , but it does not work as far as draft control. When plowing i can lower it to p-low but it will not have control when it pulls the tractor down to spinning without raising the plow. I hope this make sense . In position control it does not work at all..

It seems that the only control is to lift the plow out of the ground. When using the lift control to get it to not plow too deep it comes out of the ground. I have not placed the middle arm in the upper holes but will try that..

don't bother.

so.. you have NO position control.. and your draft control is limited to all the way down, and transport position.

time to pull the cover...

The draft control, on my NAA needed some adjustment..... Luckily I have a mechanic that worked on these units for years... worn parts needed adjustment under the cover.... now it works great... I use it for sub soiling my alfalfa fields... I built a sub soiler with 5 "fingers" from a coil-spring harrow..... I also have sandy soil so it works well.... I have to take several passes through the same track but can get down 16" or so...
