Hi,

I found an 8N B tractor with a hydraulic backhoe attachment (with stabilizer feet) and a smaller hydraulic front loader. The front loader is great, doesn't leak, down pressure lifts the tractor off the ground. The backhoe main seals that swing the device left and right leak like sieves... needs new rings or new pistons if I can't get the rings. The bucket and hoe are also slow, very slow. It would take a while to dig.

The tractor itself isn't necessarily rough, but it isn't pretty. Most of the tin is solid. Brakes, clutch, gears all good. Tires are not great, 2 are poor. No muffler. Lots of power, good steering, blue smoke when the tractor revs up (when it needs more power it auto-revs... lifting front bucket, going up hill).

I need it to dig trenches, clean barn, all-around worker tractor.

So, asking price is $2,500. What do you all think?

for grunt dirt work.. it won't be the be all do all tlb.. but you can count on it to scoop material and dig holes.

is it using a front pump to power all.. or a pto pump to power all.. or is it using hte anemic belly pump to power all.. or some combination therin.

the packing fo rhte cyl's on the hyds are usually no problem. I have loader yl;s fromthe 50's rebuilt often.. usually standard chevron / vpacking can be found to fit.

leaks will make a low volume hyd system seem slow.

back tot he loader bucket lifting on it's own.

what type of spool valve does it use?

blue smoke is oil control rings usually.. may not affect power.. but will / could eventually foul out plugs.. bandaid fix is fouler adapters.. tires go for about 400$ each.. but old ones hold air a long time if all you are doing is crawling leaving a trench.

steering, unless power, will liekly get mean once the front bucket is loaded.. just the nature of the beast.. however that hoe on back may be plenty of counterweight. hopefully it is subframed.

if no power steering.. check the dront bolster kingpin.. loaders usually abuse them.. then again.. tlbs do more digging than loading.. or it may have been repaired already.

a N as a tlb is just a bit of a monster.. i'd offer less if you really want it.

i have an 850 with light duty 722 1-arm loader and a woods 6500 hoe on back, and I still consider it a toy.

in the en.. if it does what you want.. its fine.

jhust don't think you can go into t he septic tank and swimming pool business with it.. :)
