Oil & Fuel 863 Bobcat skid steer

I used carquest tractor fluid in my bobcat 863 skid steer and ii is foaming... Is this not right for this machine,, On the Carquest fuid can had many machines listed but not Bobcat 863 skid steer.... Why?????

Viscosity, detergents (or lack of) would be my guess. On my old 742 it recommends 10 - 30 weight oil.

Are you talking about engine oil or hydraulic oil? Either way foaming is not good for anything. If it is the hydraulic oil then I would suggest getting a oil approved by the manufacturer.

Bobcat recommends their own brand of hydraulic fluid for their equipment. They do not give out any information about it's viscosity or additives. On the other hand the owners manual and shop manual for my 7753 say that if Bobcat fluid is not available then use 10w-30 or 10w-40 class SE motor oil above 0 deg F. Below 0 deg F use 5w-30 motor oil.

Why is because some hydraulic systems are designed to run with motor oil.

My Bobcat V417 Versahandler uses motor oil, like dirt ditch ​listed.

Some systems use motor oil with an anti foaming agent. I would use what the manufacture recomends

My Case 1845c can use motor oil with Case additives, or HY-Trans.

Another Case trencher can use ATF or HY-Trans.

My Power-Trac has used 10W-40 motor since day one from the 90 and I am still using it. Some ha switched to synthetic oil .

It's all mineral based oil except for some of the pure synthetics.

Some of the synthetics are blended with mineral basedoil.
