8404SS Is my 4wd working?

Brand new member, first post.
Just bought a 2004 Cub Cadet 8404SS (Kioti DK40). I was reading the owner's manual and it says when 4wd drive is engaged a light on my insturment panel should illuminate, it does not. I am able to push the 4wd lever down and it feels like it is engaging, but no light. Same with the rear differential lock, feels like it engages, but no light on panel. Is there any way to verify they are both working. Maybe the 4wd light is just for models that have push button 4wd? Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a front loader, use the bucket to lift the front tires off the ground, and drive backwards down the driveway . With 4WD engaged, the front wheels should be turning.

I don't think the 2004 model DK 40 has a light on the dash for 4WD or for the diff lock.

Check the bulbs under the dash.....could have worked loose, or need replacement....

Thanks for the feedback so far, I've noticed a couple other discrepancies in the owner's manual, so maybe your right.

The 4wd light is now working. There is a switch under the operators deck that is supposed to be engaged when you push the 4wd lever down. The lever on mine was installed backwards, so the switch wasn't being engaged. Turned it around and now the light comes on. Also went ahead used the loader to lift the front tires off ground to verify I was in 4wd. Works great.

Here are the pictures of the 4wd lever being installed backwards and then reinstalled correctly. I have no idea why the previous owner would have had this turned around. The lever now engages the switch and the 4wd light comes on. Also attatched a couple of pictures of the tractor. First real tractor I have ever had, so I am very excited to start putting it to use.
