84\" Rear finish mower on a 790?

Hi:

I'm thinking of buying a (2nd /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif tractor and was wondering what the largest finish mower anyone has pulled with a 790 is? I'm thinking an 84" is about all the weight the 3pt will handle on a 790 but maybe I'm wrong? I might have to go up to a 990 /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Anybody out there running a 790 with an 84" or larger 3pt Finish mower?

I have a customer with a 790, no loader,
and he is running a Land Pride 2584
finish mower, but he needed front
weights to offset the weight. He has used
this combo for 4 or 5 years now, and
seems to have no problems. I do not
believe he has any hills, and is mowing
a large lawn, not fields.

Thanks, that's good information.

If I got a 790 I'd have the 300 loader on front so wouldn't need the weights unless I removed the loader.

Also, I only have a small hill (And I'd gladly downshift for it) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'll be finish mowing about 5 acres. Right now I do it with a 2305 with a 62"mm and for all but a couple of spots can mow full out (High range) at about 9mph (Very flat). (I have two lots and want to leave the 2305 at the other one).

Based on this I'm sure the 790 would have enough power. I was mainly worried if the weight of an 84" rear mower would affect the handling of the tractor, sounds like it wouldn't.

I had a 770 2wd and no loader. I had 100 lbs of front weight to keep the front tires on the ground. The horsepower was fine until I go into deep grass. I was pulling a landpride 2572 AT (72") side discharge. In deep grass it would bog down the 24 horses of the tractor. The new 3720 has not had that problem though. Good luck
