8320 MFWD Locked up

Planting with my 8320 in MFWD and the left front wheel locked up. right before it happened, I heard a couple clunks and it just stopped. I can get the tractor to go in reverse about 3 feet before it locks up again. I tried putting the switch in all the three different positions and it doesn't help. Any ideas?

Neighbor has a 8320 that did that. Took a lot parts in the differental. My guess is it is not an easy fix.

I could be in the wheel hub or the differential.

The hub should have an oil plug, I would open that and look inside and see if I could see any damage. If he plug is in the correct position to drain, catch the oil in a clean container and look at it.

When I was in college the Case IH did a similar thing and it was a gear in the hub broke.

Please post back what you find.

Thanks. The gear in in the hub was broke. Doesn't appear it did too much damage inside though. It could have been a lot worse.
