Got a good deal on an 8 ft rear blade. Just wondering if it is too much for the tractor? Gonna be used for snow removal and gravel driveway maintenance.

Shouldn't be a problem, especially if your using it at an angle.

I use an 84" (7') with my 3540 and it pulls great...the biggest problem is to get it to 'bite' into the dirt without downward force. I would recommend a 8' for any snow work or finish grading. If your tires are filled or you have wheel weights it will be all the better.

You could also cut a little off each end. ;) A buddy of mine bought an 8 footer cheap and cut it down to 6.5' and it works fine on his small JD.

My rear loaded R4's are about 6 ft wide. If I have to I will take 6" off of each side.

Should be just fine for the uses you state. Might be too big for serious grading, but no problem for snow removal and smoothing gravel.
