Stopped by JD this AM to talk over-run clutches with parts and got snagged by a salesmen.

Started talking 790s and he says that I could upgrade my loader to a CX.

I didn't think this was possible, anybody know ?

Might go for it if they can keep it under 4 digits.

interesting. i'd say go for it if they can keep the cost down.

where are you located? good JD dealers are few and far between

I'm south of Tacoma in a suburb called Spanaway.
My dealer is Sumner Tractor. So far, so good.

The JD site isn't helping, they show the CX is available in the "build your 790", but not in the "attachment" list.

Better confirm before I get my hopes up.

I have a 300 loader on my 790 - what would the CX give me?

I've put round bales on my forks and it was not stable - so just wondering what you get.

Thanks

a buddy of mine worked for sumner tractor for a year or two, and i've spent a lot of time hanging around there. great dealer. unfortunately, they didn't have any 990's, so i went to agrishop in auburn.

spanaway, huh? i live in auburn but my tractor is at my other place in Elma.

sorry, i'm done getting this thread off topic.

Flywheel, here's a comparison list.

I'm also hoping for a little more rigidness.

My guess is that that the difference between the 300, 300X, and 300CX is the capacitys of the hydraulic rams. The cast iron frame is probably the same. Judging from the specs, the lift capacity is inversely proportional to the lift reach and height. So the 300 probably has the smallest diameter ram but the longest excursion so it uses the same amount of oil as the others. I wonder if one could replace the 300 rams with 300X rams make it a 300X. The 300CX has articulation arms at the bucket end.

Here are some pics of my brand new 790 with 300 loader to show the lift height and reach. Nothing in the bucket... just playing.

I feel like I can lift enough as it is.

Rats.

Talked to another sales guy at the same shop and he says the first was talking BS.
The plain 300 is the only loader for the 790.

Muxter, I'm almost sure it's not just the cylinders that are different.
My Father has the 300X on his 4410. Next time I'm over there, I'll note the exact differences.
