My son has a 757 Z with about 1200 hrs on it. He had a "lazy" drive motor so he took it to the dealer and the diagnosis is the pump failed and shot metal chips in the system damaging one of the drive motors and in all likelihood the other is likely to fail as well. Their solution is 3200 bucks for new pump, two new drive motors and of course a complete system flush.
The machine is in good shape otherwise. The dealer has a municipal 757 coming in on trade that they allowed the township $800 as trade value so he could buy that as a donor and then just pay for the labor-I think about 800 bucks.
Any opinions? $3200 sounds like a lot, but then again what does a new 757 go for?-probably close to 8 grand?
Or he goes to Lowes and buys a throw away Deere Ztrak for 2400??
