Hi! Im new to the forum, and just bought a Ford 755 with the turbo diesel engine. This machine has the loader and backhoe both of which work well. I ran the machine about 8 hours and the engine runs really well also. Even now.

I have not worked it hard yet, but day two I smelled coolant and found coolant/oil spraying out the overflow tube. Oddly enough I only really notice this when its run forward or reverse. (Has the shuttle shift). Running the hoe, no issue to speak of. This makes me woder if its hyd. fluid from trans, but Im not seeing anywhere its tied into the engine cooling system at all.

I assumed there was a leak in the radiator between the coolant coils and oil cooler. No luck, after starting disassembly I found a seperate air to oil cooler with no coolant tied into it at all.

Worth noting is that there is no water in the oil at all and while it uses some it does not seem like a whole lot.

Anyone ever run into this, or have any insight on how to proceed with troubleshooting? From what Im finding it seems like a failed headgasket. Cracked head or pitted cylinder are likely.

The whole only noticeable in gear driving is what confuses me the most.

Thanks for any feedback on this!
