7510 Question

Because I preferred the ergonomics of the JD 2210 and 4110 to the BX, up to today I was leaning toward purchasing one of the two JD's. For some reason, the thought of looking into Kubota's larger tractors did not cross my mind. Fortunately, I spent some time at my local Kubota dealer today and am now considering the 7510 too.

I have 3.5 acres, half grass and half field. The field becomes very thick and becomes difficult work for my JD 445 (23HP gas with 60" deck). I want to upgrade to a diesel engine and have the ability to purchase a loader and other cat 1 implements. Maneuverability is important as I have many trees.

The 7510 is a much more comfortable tractor than the BX (to me). I am 6'-2", so maybe that is why. The seat on the BX almost seemed to lean toward the steering wheel. I do not notice this on the JD's or the 7510.

Will the 7510 be as maneuverable as the BX? I drove it around the lot and it appears the uncut circle with a 60" deck is approx 48". More importantly, will it cut as well as the BX? My neighbor has a BX with a 54" deck and his tractor does a great job. The dealer says that there should not be a difference.

I got a price of $11,800 for the 7510 with 60" deck and folding ROPs. Is this typical? Price wise, the 7510 seems to be between the 2210 (at $10,800 with deck) and 4110 (at almost $13,000 with deck) but it seems to be more comparable to the 4110 in its abilities.

Anything else that you guys have run across when comparing the 7510 with the JD 2210 and 4110?

I have no experience with the BX but I do own a B-7500 and feel you will be very pleased. I use mine mainly to finish mow 3 acres and brush hog another 3. It will certainly be a step up form your 455. I do not have a mid mount mower, but many on the board tend to say the BX is a superior mower due to the fact the deck is suspended where as the 7510's deck rides on caster wheels. The price seems about right to me I paid $9700 on mine with folding ROBs and no mower 3 years ago I suspect the MMM will run you around 2 grand. The 7510 will compare most closely with the JD 4110, both machines will do what you ask as will the BX or 2210, I would chose the one that you feel is the most comfortable and with the dealer you like the best. I had looked at the 7510 but decided to opt for the 7800 for ground clearance and more power and higher dump height. It was a tough decision as I liked the nimbleness of the 7510 Even on my 7800, it is a little cramped for my brother who is 6'4". I've always been told that if you are taller that the New Holland seat is more accomodating because it slides at an angle (back and up). If the 7510 is comfortable I don't think you would regret the purchase.

I guess i'm confused about the decks. I always assumed that a deck that rode on casters would be superior to a suspended deck. Isn't that why so many people like Simplicity decks?

A concern did come to mind, though. As a significant portion of my mowing will be a rough field with lots of bumps, maybe a floating deck will take less abuse than a deck that rides on the ground.

You may want to send a personal e-mail to a member named TresCrows he has both a BX and a B-2410, he says the suspended deck gives a better cut. Another option if your new property is really rough field you may want to hold off on the MMM and buy a economy brush hog in the $400 range and once you get it tame and work the surface smoother then get a MMM or a RFM. I would first ask why if you were leaning to the JD 2210 why not look at their larger units as well? BUT, being a Kubota booster /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I think--of course--you should get the Kubota /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I like both my 2410 and my BX. The BX 60 inch suspended mower is a much better mowing utensil than the 2410 and its 60 inch deck on castors. The BX is more manuverable BUT again, now that I have my 2410 and have spent the time to set my deck up and also get used to the tractor I do like it very much. It does not cut as well as the BX, but still, now I am happy with it and I am reasonably particular. The castors tend to rut soft ground and also tend to lay over overly tall grass causing striping. The suspended BX deck is also better for cutting rough ground because it rides on the tractor tires and the castor type on the 2410 rides on little castors. That said, no MMM is made for really rough ground or bush hogging. They will be quickly destroyed and they are very expensive. My recomendation is for you to get the 7510, a 60 inch MMM and a 48 inch cheapo brush cutter like a King Kutter brand for you rough field. I sometimes cut my not terribly rough field with my MMM on either the BX or the 2410 with it locked full up.
I someties wish I had turf tires on my 2410 instead of R4s as well, and yes, the BX is easier on the lawn even with the mini Ag tires and more manuverable and is a fine little tractor in it's on right. The key word is little. Stepping up to a 7500/2410 size machine is not a huge move up in power but still, that size has more loader capability and works better with a boxblade.
As I am now going into my sixth summer here and I find myself looking for tractor work /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. Well, yes, my drive did wash out in a flood /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif in the fall and Kubota to the rescue /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif but other than that I could really probably get along well with a ZTR /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. My BX is now in La. with my parents for now but for a while I had two tractors here and with two Kubotas going I was Hades on wheels.
Will I sell my Kubotas--NO--noway /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I may buy some more land or maybe hire some kids to make a mess of my property so I can fix it /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. J

Only thing more I can add is that I recently priced a JD 4110 hydro here in MO with folding rops, r-4, 410 FEL, hood guard, 60"MMM at a price of $15,700. The decision seems (for ME) to be the hard part. I'm looking to make a purchase also. Seems that I have trouble separating what I really need and will use the tractor for with what I really want. Some people always want a little more than they need because they have plans or dreams of doing things they may or may not ever do. Seems like when you get into the $16,000 level there are lots of good tractors and you can't really go wrong with any of them, so the dealer really becomes important. And hey, only another $1,000 to the $16K and you can muddy things up! In the end, I think the smart money goes to what your real needs are going to be, but I keep wanting that little extra.

A floating deck follows the ground with the tractor and allows smoother cut. A deck rolling on casters rolls on the ground and there's no pivot point so humps, etc, the cut is good but not as good as with floating decks. If you have level ground no humps, bumps etc the MMM is wonderful.
If you really want a better cut get 20" push mower... Or a gang reel.

A thought....for the field cutting to a much higher elevation would certainly not be a problem. I have to do this now with my 445 to keep it from bogging. Couldn't I just raise the deck to the highest position when cutting the field and drop to 3" when cutting the lawn?

Given the difficulty changing deck height, if I go with the 7510 I do not see myself adjusting finish cutting height as frequently as I do with my current 445.

Its too bad that Kubota did not include the suspended BX style deck with the 7510. If they had, I think the 7510 would be an easy choice. Given my mowing quality concerns, I am likely to go with a JD 4110 if one of the local dealers comes up with a proposal that is competitive with the 7510.

There is a suspended deck available for the B7510. The whole goods number for this deck is an RCK54-75B, it is a 54" mowing width deck. Hope this helps.
