744 vs ztr production

I would like to get a good comparison of cut time of a 744 vs a ztr. The area I will be mowing is flat 2.5 acres and not many trees (but I want to change that). I would like to have a tractor but I'm afraid of the cut time would be to long. Thanks in advance

What's too long for you . I have a X748se with a 60" 7Iron and mow about amount of grass. It takes me 1 to 1 1/2 hours depending on how fast I feel like going.

The dealer let me borrow a ZTR while I was waiting for the 748. I prefer mowing with the 748 and I can blow snow too!

If it only takes a 1/2 hour more than that is ok I don't want to spend 2-3 hours on a tractor when a ztr, may get it done in an hour

Several years ago I was looking and shopping for a new mower. The JD Dealer let me try both a X495 and a ZTR. His only request was "Let me know which one you want". I called and told him to bring me a X495. Both traveled faster than I wanted to ride. Both mowed good at 3-4 MPH. Faster speeds left uncut grass in heavy grass. People talk about mowing 10-12 MPH, I personally have never seen anyone mowing that fast. There are several things I can do with the X495. The only thing one can do with a ZTR is mow.

If you can afford both, then go for it.

I have a small CUT (Deere 4100) and a Deere Z425. I like mowing around my trees, etc. with my Z and doing everything else with my CUT.

Yes, but I was still able to convince the CFO that both were 'needed' by first getting the Z and then, two years later when my walk behind blower was failing, that we 'needed' the CUT. I hated to lie but you only live once.
