I want to purchase either a 7400 or a 7500. The biggest dealer here in Utah tells me they don't carry the 7500 because it is not worth the extra money. I am a little confused by this, it seems to me the power steering and extra 5 horsepower are worth considering. Please help.

Everyone has his/her own opinion, but in mine, power steering is very much worth considering. I hope to never be without it again.

Just my thoughts... if you are going to be putting a loader on the tractor, the 7500 is well worth the extra $, reason being as follows. The hydraulic capacity on the 7500 is larger (3.9 gpm on the 7400 vs 7.0 gpm on the 7500) resulting in better loader speed/performance. The 7500 also has power steering which becomes important when you have a full bucket load. The ground clearance of the 7500 is greater due to the larger tires... the 7500 has a 5 gal fuel tank compared to 3.4 gal on the 7400, not to mention all the other capacities. Just my opinion but the B7500 is well worth the extra.

As a new (used) Kubota B7300 pilot, I recommend you go with the B7500. The power steering would have been nice and you do notice the difference when foing FEL work.

My better half is 5' 6" and 100 pounds dripping wet and does not have a problem without the PS - AS LONG AS THE FEL IS NOT INSTALLED! She says its quite a strain for her when the bucket is even slightly loaded. Mowing however is not a problem. (We take turns mowing)

Also - like was said before - 3.9 GPM vs 7GPM. I tried running a home made log splitter (3.5" X 20" cyl) and cycle times took too long. Hooked up a PTO driven pump and got me down to less than 10 second up and back. Think of the future tasks you plan on - better yet - check out the book - Compact Tractor buying and basics. I did and it was worth every cent. (Just wish I would have found it BEFORE)

Good Luck!

I'm little /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif that the dealer doesn't sell more B7500 than B7400.
Just the power steering alone worth every cent.
Do you have another deaker near by to check.

I took one spin in a B7100 with a FEL (pretty similar to the B7400), and when that bucket is full, the power steering becomes very important. Most especially true if a smaller person is ever going to drive it.

We got the B7500, and you can drive it for hours without fatigue.

I suspect that Glue Guy is correct, as the local dealers here don't seem to carry the 7400. The 5 hp and the power steering , as well as the hydraulics, all make the 7500 the best choice. I went with the BX 2200 because I got the increased hydraulics, the power steering, and the increased horsepower, even though I could have bought the 7400 for less. I suspect the dealer in the original post is trying to move a slow selling machine.

4WheelRider,

I'm going to echo everything I have read in this thread. Power steering, higher GPM(dual pump), more HP@lower RPM.

I would be looking for a new dealer then a tractor. Good Luck

I guess every dealer is different. My Kubota dealer is also a Case/International dealer. In the CI lines, he doesn't stock anything but big Ag tractors, and in the Kubota line, he doesn't stock any of the M series. He also told me once that his biggest complaint with Kubota was that they made too many different models. Of course, some of us like to have all those options available./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
