720 loader bucket cylinder rebuild?

Does anyone know if the collar behind the gland nut on the bucket cylinder is supposed to be removed also. My gland nut is removed but piston and packing will not exit cylinder. Wish I had a repair manual. Here are pics of the collar and gland nut.

Coastbuster, that packing box will come out with a good slam.....there's no other retainer inside

use a strong vise to hold cyl base, put a scrap piece of steel in the rod eye and give it a good SLAM.......or you might be able to use the hyd rod like a slide hammer

You need that out to replace the piston packings (make sure you remember which direction the v-packings are in)

Thanks to all. I was able to remove it with a good slam wdchyd. Turns out the stainless piston rod is bent also. Having a new one made by a guy in Riverhead ny who my friends call GOD. He new exactly how to take it out. Thanks again for your knowledge. Dan
