72\" pth snowblower too much for a JD790 ?

There's an auction around where I live in September and one of the equipment is a 72" pth snowblower. JD sites mentions about the front mount 59" blower, but would a 72" pth work or is it too much for 24 PTO HP (and too heavy ?)

You'll need to find out what brand that blower is....

I'd wager the 790 could handle it as far as power....weight might be the limiting factor though.

It may be too much but more for gearing reasons than anything else. The 790 probably has the horsepower but with only two reverse speeds you're going to be either way too slow or way too fast. In high range it will probably bog down so you'll have to use low range a lot. Reverse in low range is mighty slow going /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a 72" snowblower on my 35HP tractor. I would not recommend it on anything smaller.

I have a heavy 78" on my L3710, (30 PTO HP), when the snow is deep and wet I'm glad I have a hydro transmission. I think 72" is pushing it for your tractor.

I run a 60'' Normand blower on a Ford 1310,its only 17 PTO HP but its a husky little fella at 2300lbs , anyway the blower weighs in @ 550lbs and you have to lower it gently otherwise you feel the unballasted front -end leaving the ground. The tractor is 61'' inches at its widest so its a perfect fit,the blower shouldnt exceed the outer part of your rear wheels by more than a few inches. A 5 ft blower sure beats the heck out of shoveling, it will work great on a 24HP 790.
