6x4 Gas Gator - Squealing brakes

I had the same problem with my 6x4 Diesel Gator. Go to your JD dealer and get a bottle of John Deere Friction Modifier and add it to the trans fluid. I did it on the advice of the shop foreman and it completely got rid of the brake noise.

What oil did you use when the transmission fluid was changed?
I was also getting the squeal from the transmission when applying the brakes. A fluid change solved that problem.
There is info in the manual that addresses the 'squeal' too. It says some squeal may be due to the low viscosity of the tran fluid at higher temps.

I always used the JD HyTran fluid whenever I changed my trans fluid. I had changed the fluid before I started having noise and changed it again when the brakes started making noise. When I mentioned the brake noise to the shop foreman, he recommended the JD Friction Modifier. It's added to the trans fluid in tractors to eliminate brake chatter. Worked wonders in my Gator.

I wonder if there are any negatives to adding that? If not, I then wonder why it isn't added to begin with? Hmmm?

The only negative I noted was that it took more pedal pressure for a hard stop. It was worth it to get rid of that brake noise. You will need to add the friction modifier every time you change the trans fluid.
