6640 Front rim problems

We replaced the front rims on our 6640 with new ones a year ago when we bought new tires as the old rims were rotted. This Spring a little over a year later while pulling a manure spreader in two wheel drive the loops broke off the new right front rim. All the bolts were still tight as I had to use a 3' breaker bar to get them off. The dealer said they are only under warranty for 6 months so I ordered another new one ($370+shipping) and I'm getting ready to put it on. I'm planning on extra welding on it before I put it on though. Running beads down the long side of each loop (like the rear rims have and all 4 rims on my T4.75 have)as the loops only have 4 spot welds on them. Then breaking down the other new wheel and doing the same. Anyone done this before? Any other suggestions?? Type Rod to use? 6411, 6413, 7411???

Strange though the old rotted rims are over 20 years old and I'm using one as a spare never had this problem with them and they have the same spot welded on loops. We purchased the new rims at a cost of around $800 for the pair with shipping so we wouldn't have a problem.

I thought manufacturers quit selling these rims some time ago. I guess not. The ones with a "z" shaped bracket welded on are much stronger.

Anyways to fix these ones I would weld the extra bead that you are contemplating plus some farmers around here have welded a piece of flat steel to the tops of each loop and then another flat piece from the top of each loop down to the rim. That seems to cure the breaking problem.
