66 MF 135 w Z145 Gas - Generator w/ Tach Drive Replacement Alternator Conversion

I'm looking to replace my generator with an alternator. The tach runs off the tach drive mounted on the back of the generator.

I have been looking and found some on ebay, but don't know if they will fit.

Has anyone else done this conversion with success?

Any suggestions on where I can find one?

Should I just get a generic one wire alt and forego the tach?

Look on eBay for a Ford alternator with tachdrive. There was a vendor goes by cheaptractorparts out of Kentucky is where I bought mine for my 135. I modified the existing bracket and also replaced my tach. Be sure to ask which direction the tach runs so as to match your existing tach. The alternator is a Delco 10si which is a very common alternator. Sometimes they have to build to order. It will run you a bit over $200. There is a Ford alt w/tach on eBay right now which will work for you if the tach is output the correct direction.

Poking this thread again. I STILL haven't replaced my generator. Procrastination I guess.

Does anyone know the Part Number for the original 66 MF135 z145 gas engine's Generator?

Why don't you just get the gen. rebuilt??? Probably less than $100....and you get to keep your tach...Bobg in VA
