UPDATE...
Changed the condenser...went ahead and changed the points and plugs again at the same time (level playing field).

The tractor started up just fine and ran great for about 15...then right back to the same old thing.

The dist shaft is tight...no movement.

The gas cap being off did not help.

Any other ideas besides a gas can and a match???

before you fire the match.you may want to check the fuel cut off solenoid by the governor.heard these valves malfunction sometimes.call bill at Valley Power if he cannot help then torch it.

Another problem I had with my Allis was fuel starvation and or flooding due to the use of the rubber tipped float valves supplied in contemporary rebuild kits. The valve would either jam in the seat or not seal at all or work just fine. I finally did a MAJOR search to find a kit with the original all metal valve. That cured all my carb problems. Since your carb was rebuilt I wonder what they used? In my experience those viton tips are problematic......

Good point about the Viton tip.. What i do when having such problems is to use my Propane heating torch to eliminate the entire fuel system . Run the tractor untill it starts to give the problem .Turn off the fuel and run the engine untill it stops . Place the end of the torch into the carb veturi . Turn on the Propane a little and start the engine . It will take you a couple of goes to get the Propane flowing at a rate that will sustain the engine at the revs where it gives trouble . If it runs clean , it's not the fuel system and because it starts OK it's not compression so that leaves spark . If it still runs rough on Propane it is in the fuel system , keep looking .

I doubt if there is a fuel cutoff solenoid but I would follow Mit's suggestion to call Bill. Did he rebuild the carb?

my thoughts are if it was spark and fowled plugs it would not restart smoothly without cleaning the plugs or replacing them.sounds like it is starving for gas.another trick to try is when it starts to bog down is spray gas in the carb use a spray bottle.if it revs up send back the carb to be re rebuilt.to adjust the float you have to take off the bowl at the bottom of the carb.the needle valve in there should shut off the gas when the bowl is full.if the bowl is draining faster than it could fill up you will have fuel starvation.you have to know the float angle to adjust the float correctly.it is adjusted by bending the tab that closes the needle valve.u probably have some kind of warrenty on the carb so do not open.

Sorry , a couple of typos . If it runs clean on Propane it "IS" the fuel system . If it still runs rough on Propane it "IS NOT" the fuel system .

I have made a few adjustments, but have not broken the carb down to adjust the float. How about this for a thought...when this thing dies, it dies quickly. It does not gargle down or sputter to start back up...just quickly dies. We were thinking electrical...could I have the wrong coil? Do you know the NAPA part number for a coil that will work?

Brian, almost any coil should work. It being a point, and condenser firing system. Coils going bad are known for running for 15-20 minutes then shutting down. This is due to the heat getting to then, expanding the internal winding, and causing parts, if not all of the winding to short. You should be able to run a 0.035" sparkplug gap. It's a gasoline engine, makes little difference what make. If you have compression, spark, fuel, timing correct. It should run, and run, and run....
