Bought it new in May. Back to Dealer in June for leaking seal and "lope". They said no problem but when I picked it up they said that the "lope" was normal. It's not bad but when doing critical work it's a pain. Anybody know how to cure? Tractor has 9 hours on it.

Welcome to TBN, Arnold. Seems like on the old Detroit deisels, they would have to run the rack to get the lope out. Their injector/fuel metering was inside the valve cover, and if some got out of adjustment, it would lope due to not delivering fuel to each cylinder equally. Don't know what kind of injector/pump assembly your unit has, but a good mechanic should be able to get it to stop. If the dealer is near you, go start one of the units he has on the yard and see if it does it.

Hi Arnold, I bought a new 6500fwd in March and have somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 hours on it. I've never had any sort of lope even at idle speed. Sounds like there's an issue with injectors or timing. Please keep mus posted as to what you find.

What is a lope?

With the throttle at a fixed point the engine will vary speed
even with no change in load. In my case it's probably 40-50 rpm every second or two at 1500 rpm. I have seen some 2200 rpm max diesel's with 400 rpm of lope. Hard to handle that much lope. Next time I drive it will try and measure it better and provide the info

Something you desire for a performance gas motor, not so desirable for a tractor on diesel.

Are you sure it is lope and not the emissions sensor? Doesn't the tractor have to be warmed up before that sensor stops causing issues. I know with mine after I have been on it a while and it gets warm the engine is much more consistent.

It does it all the time I'm above about 1200 rpm- cold or hot and lope gets worse under more strain but is never bad just a nuisance.

That's an interesting thought. I have an old 94 Caddy . It will turn over 200,000 miles this week. For the first time since I had the Caddy, the engine lite comes on sometime. If on the highway I notice what might be called a lope and, sure enough, the light has come on. On the Mahindra 10s; is there a check engine light? Do these machines have a computer? ( I'm guessing yes) I wonder how many sensors there are for the engine that has to do with performance?

Cheers... Coffeeman
