I'm going to get a box blade for my L 2850 4wdr. If I can't find used, there is a $40 difference in price between a 65" and 72" blade. I expect to do some field leveling when I first get the blade (filed plowed, disked, and harrowed) and after that light millings road maintenance.

Suggestions as to which size to get would be appreciated. Thanks

You probably could go either way.You probably know that your model tractor was supposed to come w/34 hp. mtr. What brand(boxblade) are you looking at that would sell 6" more for $40?.Also does 72" design come with additional scarfier ? If it did and the boxblade was of quality design I would definitly get 72 incher(IMHO).

BTW Popster what is the starting price of smaller box ?

Go bigger so as to clear your tires. This is really inportant when your making a "cut"If the blade clears the tires the cut will go eas, if not the tires will ride up on not cut ground an youll find your self stepping over each pass or cutting on a angle.Mine is to small an its a real pain.

Thanks for the replies.

It's a United Box Blade/Scraper from Everything Attachments.

The 65" has 5 scarifiers and weighs 405 lbs and costs $ 529 shipped. My local store wanted $600 plus tax.

The 72" has 6 scarifiers and weighs 445 lbs and costs $ 569 shipped.

Edit to add: They have a heavier duty 72" blade that weighs 505 lbs and costs $629 delivered.

When you say that you "expect to do some field leveling"... IF this is a large area, or if you have to do a bunch of cutting down... spend the extra for the heavy duty 72". If the field leveling is just smoothing out a few bumps, still get the 72" but not the heavy duty one.
