Well, heres my story on my 6110.....
It all started out here doing some research on all sorts of brands of machines looking for a direction in what to buy. I was raised running JD model A's, massey harris 44's, Case western style platform 900 series and no cabs! It took me a while to get familiar with all the new language used in modern tractors.
I had several brands near me within 60 miles, so i looked at the closest brand Mahindra. The dealer is only 20 miles from my farm, so he got the first look. I had the intention of purchasing two tractors as we have a farm with 270 acres with about 60 cleared for hay/pasture rotation. The rest is woods which inspires logging, road making, food plots and all that "extra" project thought. So I planned on getting the 8560 and a smaller unit for unloading hay and a good all around HP that could also be used as a back up for the 8560 in a pinch.
I found an old new model 6530 on a dealers lot about 1.5 hrs away and he wanted to move it for a very good price. The Mahindra dealer that was close didn't have that model in stock. So, the family loaded up and we went to check it out. Well as it turns out it was raining out when we got there and the wife had no interest in trying it out in the rain. We agreed that she would have to drive it now and then incase i needed help, so the machine had to be relatively simply to drive. So, here we sit in the rain, and she wasnt interested in a wet test drive. So.....out of the blue she says, "why not get a cab tractor? I'd drive that."
In the lot was a 5010 cab HST. I took it for a spin and really hated the HST for what we wanted to do with it. So there sat the 6110 cab with shuttle. I liked the HP upgrade and what seems to be a more roomy cab. I jumped in it and dropped it in low low range.....VERY nice. I thought there is no problem with the wife driving that machine with the speed ranges she can select. I liked it, she liked it, and the price was good. I called my local Mahindra dealer and it turns out he had 2 on the lot locally and could beat the price by 2G's!!! We bought the 6110 from the local dealer and have had super service from him. We will definitely look at him for the 8560 or the M-force 100 when we do the next tractor.
Anyway, the 6110 had all i wanted in features except a few complaints as i ran it a while and got to know the machine better....
1st i liked the easy access to maintenance. Oil changes, oil checks, filters and are all right ion your face and easy to get to. it just takes a minute to do a short walk around to check everything before jumping in it.
2nd I love the quick attach front on the loader. I have the bucket, a grapple, tree puller, double spear bale spear, pallet forks and a few future custom projects planned for it.
3rd easy fill fuel tank from the ground. BIG 18 gallon tank that gets filled often during hay season. i'd hate to have the smaller tanks up on top of the hoods of the other 30 series tractors.
4th the cab has excellent views with no exhaust pipe in the way. heat works good. good ventilation. Having a cab is a must if you are haying!!!! I think I'd die if i had no cab during hay season....too much dust. The cab even has a small area for my small daughter to stand and go for a ride with me. I had a recall on the air conditioning system and had that fixed at my 50 hr check up. Basically the recall installs a bigger drip pan and a coil spring shoved inside of the drain hose to ensure drainage of condensation. id use the AC for a while and it would drip inside the headliner....haven't had a problem since the fix.
5th The extendable CAT2 3 point arms are awesome. if you have attachments the arms are a must....wouldn't buy another tractor without them. I have a 3 point 8foot disc mower, bale spear, Bus Hog 121 8 foot 3 way rear blade, carry all, several bush hogs/shredders, sprayer system, 6 foot disc, and probably something els i'm forgetting. When you have a few tools to hook up, the extendable arms make it easy to hook up stuff.
6th The draft control is VERY nice. At first i thought I'd never use it, but wow is that nice when you are grading with a rear blade.
The cons of the machine are what i found as I used it and felt it could be improved on, but these are ideas that can be worked on in a custom fashion and not necessarily a factory thing.
I wish it was a bit heavier. Another 1500 lbs in machine weight would be very nice. I may be over using the machine a bit, i cant expect to get everything i want out of one machine. I did fill the rear tires which is a must DO NOT leave the dealer without this being done. I also had the rears flipped for a wider stance. HUGE improvement with loading hay on uneven terrain. I can have one bale on the rear spear, and stack three bales on the front and drive across the field without issues and it feels very stable.
The tractor comes with 1 remote. I added 2 more. It is nice that the cab has slots already made for the three remotes.....so they just drop in. A bit pricey for the valves, but worth it if you have the tools to hook up to it. I often have the grapple on the front and the tilt and turn rear blade on the back, so there burns up all my remotes and they are all used.
I wish there was more protection underneath from brush and sticks. The fuel tank and its lines are pretty vulnerable under there and I found myself almost ripping them out with junk while in the woods. The tank is nicely located by really unprotected from that one sneaky stick that could punch a good hole in it as your busy having fun.
Also if you are in a dusty environment, the screens and filters for the radiator must be cleaned a lot. That machine is so closed in and it is a heavy breather through its screen windows. I made up a blow nozzle with a 90 degree pipette that can softly blow out the fins and screens without having to take them out. Haying is the worst for that...watch your temp gages and it will let you know if your radiator and cooler aren't getting air.
I seen someone here add additional lighting, LED style. I have been mowing hay and baling in the dark and would like to have that extra little boost of light in those cases.
Also, the rear window is drilled for the rear wiper/washer system....I have actually seen good use for it when baling and you have a dusty back window with sun glare in your face and you can't see the machine behind you......but i cant justify the extra cost for a squirting wiper blade!!
Overall, I will have the machine a year this March and have 226 hours on it today. I have used it on our place for almost everything i can think of with a good selection of attachments and am very satisfied. Nothing like firing it up with a full tank of fuel and talk radio on the tune machine!! Can't wait to get the next one!
Have fun!!
