Snapped the PTO off right out of tractor. I havnt pulled one out of it before. Any pointers. Looked like you just take four bolts out and pull it on out.

ps.. pulling the pto on a 640 will drain both the rear end oil AND the hyds oil.. so drain them first.. or be ready to have near 4g pour out the pto hole.. depending on how full hyds sump is.

utf is fine for both .. or gear oil for rear.. and utf for hyds.

lastly. there is a seal in between rear and hyds. so when pulling the shaft and re-stabbing it.. be kinda carefull that you don't hog the seal out. it likely already leaks a lil.. but the less dapage to the lip the better.

if you have the new assembly it's a 4 bolt and new gasket, no sweat job, then refill both oil sumps.

Awesome! That's kind of how I figured it. Thanks for helping.

Success! Except my overrun clutch was being used as an adapter too. Soooo I have to get a new one of those.
Splines on broken piece wore down to nothing lol. Also gave me a good chance to clean spare parts out of diff from when I grenaded an axle.

them old splines weren't much to write home about when new either. glad it went together good for ya.

never know what you will find in them sumps.

I've pulled shafts out that had split rings back out of the bearing carrier and run ont he spinning shaft wearing a ring into it. :)

Only issue now is my ford flatbelt adapter is setup for the old splines. It's the only thing I have that is old splines. I have some head scratching to do.

you can rig up a converter. IE.. get a coupler from large to small spline.. then build a standoff 4 bolt / stud deal. will mov ethe belt pulley back 8" or so. depending on what it drives.. may be ok.

past that.. try to find a more rare ferguson belt pulley in 1 3/8
