I know the general idea is a 48inch or so unit is the best match for the tractor. But is a 60 really just too big?

Will it lift the weight of a 60" tiller?

How deep and how fast do you want to go when tilling.

How hard is your soil? I.e. lighter loam / sand that turn easily or heavy clay base that turns like stiff mud.

Are you going to breaking sod?

All of these factors will play into can a BX handle this tiller.

I ran a 48" KK on my BX23 for 3 years, I wouldn't have put any more tiller on it than that

Its pretty thick clay type soil up here with plenty of rocks. As far as breaking up sod I would probably use my box blade or middle buster first.

I do a lot of replanting the same areas of grass year after year due to winter damage with the tractor and horses. was looking for something to help this out. I usually till up the ruts and damaged areas and then rake smooth and replant.

I have a new 48 inch Gear Drive with clutch and 6 tines per rotor for $1495. Ken Sweet

I run a 50" with our BX2660 and would not want to try a 60". As per oldnslow, it may work under some situations, but I don't see it being a good overall fit.

I have a tiller but if I were doing the task you mention here I would use my boxblade and then my RatchetRake. The BB will bust it up and keep it somewhat level and the RatchetRake will smooth it out to "throw the grass seed on it" point and then drive over it to press the seed in. Lot cheaper than a tiller.

I have a 48" tiller and my BIL has a 60" KK tiller. I have used them both in the same soil, my tiller weighs more than the KK, the tines on mine are longer making the diameter of the tiller larger. I have no trouble lifting either one and I really can't tell a difference in the amount of HP it takes to pull either one. With either tiller, I can run too fast and pull the engine down, but if I use common sense and run at the right speed, either does a really good job.
A couple of videos of the 48" with my brother running it and he is running it harder than I do.

48" is plenty for the BX2660 in our heavy soil. Just take a few more passes. My time is cheaper than fuel and repairs. :)
