Working the CK 30 yesterday and lost all power to the electrical system. I have trouble shot it to the 60 amp fuse blowing but I want to know why. I have limited access to the schematics so here goes. I pulled the fuse and Rang one leg and it goes to the + side of the battery. Other legs feeds power to most of the rest of the tractor. Ignition switch off and it is open to ground. Ignition switch in either on or acc, this leg to ground I have seen anywhere from 1 ohm to 500 is with the brakes set. Puzzling, so I released the brake, and meter went open....as it should be. Depress the peddel and close the brake switch and it goes to intermitant resistance. I then removed both brake lights and still there is resistance of around 500 ohms, varying. Shook wires and could not get any more fluctuation. I do remember that when the fuse blew, and tractor cut off, I was on the brakes. I have ordered 3 fuses and will pick them up tomorrow but I have to find the cause before the problem is solved. Any ideas or a PDF of a scematic? Thanks yall

Brake pedal pinching a wire when depressed? I think I recall someone else having a similar issue and reported the dealer had traced it back to a pinched wire going back to the brake lights. Hit the brakes and it energizes the circuit, sending power to ground. Sorry...I don't have a wiring diagram.

a defective brake switch, that shorts out to ground could do that, too!..

60A must be a main fuse, suppose there are other fuses in a more suitable amp for lights etc.

Problem solved. After I took the plastic cover off the instrument cluster I started inspecting wiring in the area. I found a chaffed wire in the bundle going to the ignition switch. When I pressed the brakes over the years it had worn a hole in the wire. It had arced on the brake lever. I cut out the wire where it was damaged and installed a standard splice. I then taped it back up like it was and installed a piece of plastic over the bundle to protect from further chaffing. All is good and we are back mowing. Thanks all for the comments.
