Does anyone use a 6' medium or heavy-duty "brush hog" on their 3520? It looks like the new Frontier RC2072 (6') and RC2060 (5') are almost as heavy duty as the MX5 and MX6. The RC2072 is 694 pounds; the MX6 is 1053 pounds. I think the MX6 would be too heavy. For the 5', RC2060 is 590 pounds versus 823 pounds for MX5.

I would like to get the Frontier RC2072, but don't know how good it will hold up to mowing alder brush. It does include slip clutch, front & rear chain guards as standard.

I run an MX5 on my 3720. I also feel the MX6 would be too heavy. I do not think you will have a power issue with a 6' shredder. I can see a slight drop in rpm's in thick areas with the 5'er, but slowing the speed would help with a larger cutter. The only issue I see is the wider (& longer) cutter and the cener of gravity on hills with it lifted.

We also have a cheaper howse cutter that is light duty and it is abused and keeps going. I don't think you will have an issue witht he RC2072. Keep the blades sharp and it will be easier on the cutter and the tractor.

I have an MX6 that I used with my prior 820 tractor (about the same size and weight as a 4000 series tractor but only 35 hp. It was light on the front wheels when picked up but otherwise worked well. I did not have a fel or front weights but would think that with front weight of 500 lbs you would be okay. If you have to turn around on steep hills though I would go with something lighter or make the turn with the deck down.

I agree with Steve. I have a 5' Bush Hog and a RC072 Frontier. I can't use the RC072 on the 3720 because of the steep hills whereas the smaller 5' Bush Hog is okay. I use the RC072 on the 4320 which works fine and the 4320 has FEL and beet juice in the front tires for ballast.
The larger cutter is probably okay on the 3x20 if you are working on fairly flat/level land.

thanks for the replies. I am borrowing a neighbors 6' king kutter right now to try it out. It feels like too much weight too far back & not very great for manuvering. I will try it out some more this weekend; but probably will purchase 5' mower.

If you search MX6 and 4310, there were discussions about this
before the 20 series came out. I agree that hills could make
for a problem, but with flat ground the 3520 should be ok,
esp with front weights or loader.

If you're not comfortable with it, got with the MX5,
one heck of a mower.

When i had my 4310, i gonna go with the MX5 or MX6, as it could handle either. If you are going up and down hills, probably the lighter one better. I have a cab now and I also have a flail mower and i am still contemplating getting a MX5 or 6 or a cheaper brush cutter for clearing brush.
