I've occasionally thought of getting a small dump trailer for personal use. I recently bought a 2T mini-ex (4200#) and am wondering whether a trailer that size could haul it, or if it's likely too short.
The footprint of my mini is about 4x5' (WxL) with the tracks extended. My truck is a 2020 Ranger with the tow package, which specifies 7500# max trailer weight and 750 on the tongue.
The 5x10 dumps generally seem to have a payload of around 4500-5000, but my understanding is the hard part might be balancing the trailer properly with the short length. I don't want to do anything risky.
As it stands I have zero need to move the machine, so it doesn't make sense for me to buy a separate equipment trailer (that I don't have room to store). The dump would be more useful, as I have an occasional but recurring need to move garden/landscape material and other stuff. It would just be an added plus in case I wanted to help a friend or somebody local to me.
