553 loader options

Am buying a 553, but need some help with the carrier and bucket. Been to the JD website, but can't find much specifics on the 73" heavy duty bucket vs. the materials bucket. I was wanting to know the differences in weights of the 2 buckets besides"thicker back and side panels." Also, what disadvantages are there in the global carrier? My dealer doesn't seem to think I really need it, but I don't know exactly what attachments I may buy for the FEL in the future.

Get the HD bucket. The materials bucket is a general purpose bucket and won't stand up very well over time - IMO.

It will be the best $250-300 dollars you ever spent on a loader bucket. And when it comes time to sell the loader or the tractor - the next guy will appreciate it too!

RickB - a veteran poster here on TBN - and a dealer (I believe) has very good things to say about the global carrier.

I have the SS quick attach and feel it is superior to the generic Deere quick attach (with bottom pin). But, RickB states that the global is even more HD than the SS.

So, if you're looking for HD bucket and want the HD carrier...

I've used a 542SL with the SS and really liked how it performed with a 10-bale grabber, but don't have any experiences with the global.
