Hi everyone. I am having aproblem with my 5525. Yesterday while transporting a bucket full of goat droppings and old hay i simply ran out of diesel. So off to town i went to get dome more. I come back and add all 10 gallons to the trator and go to start it and nothing happens. It is on a slope but with a full tank that shouldn't matter right.?....Is there anyone who's had similar problems..any advice is muck apreciated..I am going to call my dealer but just wanted your guyses opinion first..thankyou

Somebody who is familiar with that particular tractor can give you better advice.. but.. when a diesel engine is ran out of fuel the system has to be bled of air. Some diesels have electric pumps that will do it but normally not. There is generally a routine to follow to get all the air out of the fuel system. It will start by taking off the fuel filter(s) and filling them with fuel then working your way towards the injectors. There may be plugs in the injector pump that need to be cracked open or you might just be able to crack open the lines at the injectors and get it going. But no doubt it will need to be bled so don't run down the battery trying to crank her! I'm sure someone will chime in with a procedure!

Good luck!

The bleeding procedure should be in your owners manual. You will want the book with you when you are doing it as it has a few steps to it. Good luck with it.

on other tractor when this happened, I would crank until the battery went dead, Put in another battery and crank and eventually get enough fuel to an injector to get her running. then I would bleed and vent. but it sure took awhile to get fuel up.

Having run a 6-71 GM diesel out of fuel in another lifetime, and what I had to go thru for two hours to get it running again, I'm betting that you won't let the needle get below 1/4 tank from now on.....(grin)....Good luck on the bleed. Let us know...BobG in VA

PS: I have NEVER let another diesel get low since....

It might be to late for this little problem but, one of my tractors was a bear to bleed so I did one better. Having a bunch of tractors I towed the dead beast, in a short distance it came to life but extremely rough. I let it sit and nursed the throttle a bit and it cleared out without and effort. My mahindra on the other hand is the best thing since mashed potatoes and gravy. Quick and easy. The best thing is remain calm and go slow and easy. Good luck. . .John in upstate New York :) :) :)

Be careful using starting fluid as the heating coil in the intake manifold can ignite the starting fluid and actually blow up the manifold.
