5500 with Woods BH9000

Latheman - I have the 4500 4WD with the Wood's 9000 Backhoe and the subframe mount. I bought the 16" and 24" buckets right away and swap between them regularly. The aux pto pump was a must with mine because of heat buildup and the lower hydraulic fluid capacity with the 4500. The Wood's hoe is a perfect match even for my smaller tractor. Good groundbreaker power, well built, excellent service from my dealer and the factory even though I don't have any problems....just questions occasionally. I just wish the hoe had more reach once in awhile but I knew the stats when I bought it. I give it a thumbs up!!! Clyde

Is your 5500 under warranty? Is yours a $$ decision vs the Bradco unit that comes with its own sub-frame mounting unit? Not sure why you would want to go with Woods w/4 pt system when the 509/511 Bradco are available. Reason I asked about warranty is if you put something on besides the Bradco/mahindra unit, you may have problems down the road if something happens relating to the Woods BH. Bob - Excuse my lack of knowledge between 4 pt hookup versus a 3 pt hookup. I guess I just assumed 4 pt hookup was a subframe mount. In actuality, I have a subframe, back into two fixed pins, hookup the hydraulics, bring the backhoe into alignment with the two holes for the bolts, and tighten them up and secure it with crown nuts and align all of the slots and place the pins. To me, that constitutes 4 pt hookup on a subframe mount. Where is the 4th attachment to a 3pt hookup? Respectfully, I'm asking and not posing a "trick" question here. In the 50's and 60's, my Dad sold Wood's products at his successful John Deere dealership. He was one of the first dealerships in Wisc to handle their line. Even towards the end of my Dad's business before retirement, I witnessed Wood's commitment to customer satisfaction above and beyond warranty periods. Why did I buy a Mahindra???? I think it is a better machine for the price.

Well, maybe I'm the one that needs some info/background here. I've always looked at the subframe mounted units as just that: BH with subframe. If that's what everyone calls a "4pt" mount, then I'm remiss, not you guys. My 511 Bradco is a subframe mount that runs under the 00 series, bolts up to the differential and foward to connect to the front end loader frame hookups. Thinking about it, the BH does hook up in 4 points. If I've misinterpreted your 4pt, its my mistake. However, the warranty I'm talking about is the Mahindra warranty, not the Woods warranty. I'd consider the value of the 4500/5500/6000 tractors to be much greater than the hoe, in case of any issues. I was under the impression that Mahindra would cover tractor issues with the Bradco/Mahindra BH, but if you put something else back there, they wouldn't . Maybe I'm wrong there too. I've ran both bradco and woods, and in my personal opinion I think the woods is a better hoe. Not saying anyting bad about the bradco, but like the woods better, especially the mounting.

I doubt you will find anyone that has used a Woods 9000 on a 5500 Mahindra. When I bought the Bradco 511, it was the only hoe over 7.5 feet that had a subframe for the "00" series Mahindras. I can't comment on the Woods 9000 but I am certainly informed on the Bradco and the Mahindra issue. Strong hoe on a heavy tractor. I believe there are a couple other 00 series owners that have the same BH that will probably echo my sentiments. Obviously, if you want a Woods, get a Woods. But like I said, I'm sure I remember someone mentioning that the Bradco was the only BH that Mahindra would stake their TRACTOR warranty on. MUSA, can you comment on the tractor warranty thingy???BobG in VA

There are 2 differents mounts for a backhoe today.

Bob - I hope MUSA replies to the question of frame mount backhoes despite who the manufacturer is as far as the Mahindra warranty issue. I don't recall any other manufacturer specifically stating that you had to buy say a Bradco over another piece of equipment to meet their warranty requirements. I know a backhoe puts the entire tractor under stress but an FEL could do alot of damage too. It could be misconstrued by the courts as a anti-trust case. When I put down the outriggers, I think most of the load is being absorbed by the hoe itself. It can't be any worse than driving down the rough trails with any backhoe bouncing around and unsupported. Naturally, I'm referring to a subframe mount.
