Kubota BX 1860-FEL-54mmm
I am replacing the blades on a 54 inch mmm under a Kubota BX 1860 and need the socket size to remove the current blades. Any other advice or tips would help. Thanks in advance...

I am not sure about the BX1860, but the BX2660 takes a 30 mm socket. I use an impact driver to remove them, but if you don't you can use a piece of 2x4 to block and hold the blades. On the outside blades, I have also held the nut on the pulley on the top side while loosening the blade bolt. Be sure to replace the cupped washers like they came off.

I torque them to 75-80 foot pounds.

The blade bolts are reverse thread on my RC60-71B mid mount mower, I am not sure about yours, just wanted to give you a heads up. And there is a blade orientation diagram in your mid mount mower manual, yes it does matter how the blades are In orientation to each other.

My BX1850 was also 30mm and where standard right hand thread. Huge head on the bolt but smallish threads. I would guess 12mm so like tripleR said, easy on the torque when tightening them.

Kenonf,
I have the 54" MMM and there is no orientation from blade to blade, which to me makes sense since they are all driven by a single belt (without timing teeth)? My mower must be different from yours. Also, I don't recall reverse threads on the bolts, but I will check the manual so thanks for the heads up.

I cam here to post this.

You can get an electric impact wrench at Harbor Freight that will do the job.
