5303 Rockshaft won't lower

Ok, put the tractor away last fall after pulling the square baler the last 40 hrs of operation. Went to get ready for spring cutting and the rockshafts will raise but will not lower on their own. Checked the control valve and hydraulics, everything seem ok. The rockshafts were all the way up, was afraid the cylinder was froze. Removed the seat and pulled the control valve (2 bolts). Rock shafts lowered. Cleaned the control valve and reinstalled. Same problem, they will raise but won't lower. Where do I start looking. 5303 with 112 hrs. Bought it 2 seasons ago and the dealer told me it is out of warranty. It has the Mita Harig pump assembly.

I'm sure you did, but I gota ask if you checked the 'rate of drop' valve ?

I agree with checking the rate of drop valve and also caution you not to let it drop too fast when you hang a heavy implement on it.

Yes, turned it all the way in and out a couple of times.

Removed the seat and pulled the control valve (2 bolts). Rock shafts lowered. Cleaned the control valve and reinstalled.

I know you said you cleaned it but beings it did come down when you removed it, it's got to be ether the valve itself or, the fluid can't move beyond the open valve.
Like a plugged port or something (doubtful).

I'd relook at that valve.

Not to sound stupid, but how does the linkage trip the control valve. I see the spring loaded button on the bottom of the control valve. Is there a rod or something inside the port that presses against this button? Just want to be sure the mechanical parts are working properly before I start replacing parts.

Yes, turned it all the way in and out a couple of times.

Turn it all the way out and put some weight on the arms. The valve needle is probably a little stuck.
