5100e door locks me inside cab

Bought my tractor new last February. This past fall after Bushhogging my cab door wouldn't unlatch. Worked fine from outside when my brother in law came to the rescue. I tried it a few times and it didn't always work. I put duct tape on latch to keep it from latching and it hasn't stuck again but it looks tacky. Has this happened to anyone else?

Safety issue, and I'd be sure the dealer knows about it with a written document that you brought it to their attention.

Sounds like an item the dealer needs to handle under warrantee.

Yep but he'll charge me for travel to and from (25 mi) my place. I know better. HSU leak on my mahindra ended up costing me $1045 but I saved haul bill. Ha

Took me a while to figure out I could have started it back up and drove it to the house and called my wife to come outside and let me out.

Shouldn't be a problem driving it there, especially if you ring them up to expect you... just have your hazard/four-way lights + Amber 'whoop-whoop' (if you've got one mounted) on whilst travelling. Have the wife follow in your car/truck/ute with at least the hazards on as a warning/pilot vehicle.

Heck, you'll be in a cabbed tractor to boot!

20 mph gets me there in 75 minutes. I might ought to try wd40 on the latch first. Actually the duct tape isn't bad unless the door comes open on a severe slope. Engine noise is minimal and I've got my radio

I still would get it fixed under warranty. They might help you out a little on the mileage. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Hi I own a jd 5115m . Had same kind of problem... I just shot penetrating oil .. such as wd40 or the like in to the locking mechanism. I opened and closed doors few times... problem solved. I think they all get tight or lack lubrication some times. Just my .02 cts. Have a good 1.

I have a 2013 JD 5100 that had the same problem. Had to climb out the back window one time and I am very happy that there was no one to witness that escape :laughing:

It is actually a fairly easy fix. The latch on the frame can be loosened and adjusted. Takes longer to get the tools out than it does to make the actual adjustment.

Just a quick question..... doesn’t your tractor have 2 doors? Just asking. Ive had my locks freeze on mine, but never when inside

Actually, getting locked in the cab is a problem John Deere has been having with their new proprietary software known as "Hal 9000".
Owners report that they often get the following error message.
...and no! John Deere (Hal) says you do NOT have a right to modify THEIR software.
