I was in the same place, wondering what hydraulic fluid to use in my hydrostatic LS MT240HE. After a couple of hours of searching I emailed my dealer who told me, "We recommend our LS fluid but Tractor Supply sells their Traveler premium universal Hyd/ Transmission fluid and 15/40 that conforms to diesel standards also is fine for the engine, it meets the specs and is half the price."

While I wonder about the "engine" part, that was not my current worry.

Here is what 2 different LS dealers told me,

Permatran 821XL is what we use.
AW46 or UTHF (universal tractor hyd. fluid). Tractor supply and Atwoods also carry it.

I went with Shell HD Tractor Hydraulic & Transmission Fluid from TSC.

I was also concerned about the ISO rating so I finally got this response from Shell,
It's a multi-viscosity measured as SAE 10W-30, so it is in between ISO 46 and ISO 68. In terms of performance rating it is a GL-4 fluid.

So I think it should be just fine, it's GL-4 as labeled on the bucket and its near ISO46 maybe slightly thicker, maybe that will reduce the droop rate of all the hydraulic cylinders when its off??
