I’m in the market for a new tractor. I’m thinking 70-75hp will cover my current and future needs. I’ve looked into nearly all the manufacturers but narrowed down to the John Deere 5075E Premium Cab and the Kubota M4D-071.

Both are coming in at the same price. I’m looking for advice from anyone who might have these tractors or has looked at both and chosen one or the other.

The John Deere has a nicer cab IMO, I am more familiar with it as have operated JD before. The 2023+ upgrades have really stood to this machine, it looks a much more solid and better put together package. I am however worried about it’s build quality. I know it’s partially built in India. A friend of mine who has a dealer in Europe has said that it’s well known that the build quality coming from the Indian plant is not as good as the E which is manufactured in Germany which supplies Europe. I’ve read whilst doing my research about electrical issues, ECU issues etc.

The Kubota is a little more bare bones than the John Deere. I think the gear levers are in a better location. It appears to be lighter than the John Deere by 1000lbs or so. The true selling point of the Kubota over the JD is it’s reliability. I don’t see many complaints about the Kubota online.

Both dealers offering 60 months @ 0%
JD 72 @ 0%

The Kubota KTEC insurance is considerably more expensive than JD. 5k over a 5 year loan period.

I have a Kubota dealer 10 mins away (not buying from this dealer). 2 more dealers within 45 mins. Both have the M4-D071 on the lot. There might be more leverage for negotiation for a tractor on the lot?

JD dealer is 1hr 15. There’s one 20 mins away but they sell more lawn equipment and compact tractors. They supply tractors to the state for mowing.

I guess I’m looking for a nudge in a certain direction. I initially started looking for used but with interest rates for used being around 9/10% the Monthly payments were same as used.

I will admit I have a certain draw to the John Deere for tradition and nostalgic reasons but need the head to rule the heart on this one.

Any input is appreciated.
