Hello all,
I am looking at a new 5045e with 40 hours or so in the midwest. I'm looking at the small ag tires front and rear, mid mount scvs with joystick, coolant heater and intake preheater. On the invoice is freight and setup of around 800. Then I have a total discount of around 1880 leaving me at 20763 with these options. If I figure the same options on the website with no hours I get 22274 and it doesn't tell me whether frieght and setup are in that. No tax in either quote.

That puts me at 6.8% off if the website price includes freight and setup. if it didn't I could be looking at 10% off if I add setup and freight to that msrp on the website.

Also looking at a loader 553 (5483) with global carrier (101), HD 73 bucket (279), hood guard (204) and brush guard (98). The dealer is adding freight (400) and setup (246)to put it on the tractor .
The total charge would be 6165 for the parts and 6811 with freight and setup added.
I would be charged 6000 for buying it with the tractor.
So I'd be at 2.7% off the loader without freight and setup and 12% if the freight and setup should be considered.

What do you all think. This is an ag tractor so I thought I'd be getting 60 months at 0% but I am only being offered 48 months at 0% with the option to buy up to 60 months at a few extra percentage points.

Thank you

That sure sounds high for a used tractor! The dealer will try to downplay the hours, but no matter what he says, that is a USED tractor. In this area, at least, you can EASILY buy a NEW tractor from a dealer for 8 or 9% off list. I just bought the two wheel drive sibling of this tractor, the 5045D brand new with loader for 14% off list price and it was BRAND new only having been at their facility for a few weeks.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply, is that with the "setup and freight"? Should I be adding that on to the msrp to calculate the discount precentage? I think the website says that is without freight at setup, but are people getting 8-15% the msrp and not adding on freight and setup?
Thanks!

Very different experience here in Central MN. Local Deere dealerships are not willing to negotiate the CUT or UT pricing at all. Bought 2305 with 200CX and 62" deck a few years ago and had to pay the sticker price for everything. Now got a 5055D, and the dealer had to order it as they had none of the lower end 5000 series on the lot, and again they were not willing to negotiate the pricing at all! The dealership in the next town is owned by the same company, and the next closest one is 1 hr drive from where i live.

I would think you should get 10% off for an E series tractor and 15% or better off the M series.

Driving an hour to get a better deal sounds reasonable to me. My closest dealer is 75 miles away.

I was wrong this tractor only has 18 hours on it instead of 40.

Say does anyone know when people discuss the percentage off MSRP they've been getting, does that figure in the freight and setup? We are talking nearly 1500 in freight and setup for the 5045e and the 553 loader. This makes a huge difference when calculating how good of a deal I am getting.

For example. Should I take the msrp for the build, then take say 10-15 % off then add on the 1500 in freight to come up with the proper price?

Or should I take the msrp, add in the 1500 freight and setup and then take 10-15 % off the total price

Or are people actually getting getting tractors for 10-15-20% off the msrp build price on the site and not having to add in freight and setup.

Thanks!

There was no freight charge on my tractor. The list price as found on the Deere website under Build Your Own for the loader and tractor was discounted 14%. The only added charge was a BS paperwork fee of $350 that I stood still for because the rest of the deal was very good.

Have you looked up the list price of what you want in the Build Your Own on their website?

BTW, as far as I'm concerned, 18 hours STILL makes it a USED tractor. If you pay for new, make sure you GET new!

i'm not 100% sure about your situation, but i am just guessing that he is selling you a rental return tractor. it could also be a demo. a rental return is when they rent a tractor out to local farmers to pull a wagon, or anything like that. however, the pto has never been used. 18 hours seems very low for a rental return though, they usually have a 150-200 hour limit on them or the farmer has to pay extra per hour of usage. i'm willing to bet this is a demo tractor, one that was driven around the lot by customers. it could also have been used by the dealet to move equipment around the lot. you still get a full warranty that a tractor with 0 hours comes with. it begins the day you buy it, so don't think you're buying a traditional "used tractor" with no warranty. he's selling it as new because it acctually is since the warranty hasn't gone into effect yet. i do think you could get a better deal though then what you've posted. usually those demos or rental returns are sold at pretty good prices.

Ok if I build it on the website with the loader and the few options I've chosen the cost is 28439.

If I take off 14% from that price I am at 24457.

If I don't add any freight or setup I of course stay at the same price.

So we are talking 24457 (14% off MSRP, no freight, no setup) + tax.

vs

They are asking for the setup with 18 hours 26763+ tax.

So if I understand things correctly I might be paying 2305 more for a 18 hour tractor than what someone might get on a totally new one.

Thanks
Andrew
