5020 Allis Front Axle

I have a 1980 5020 4X4 and the front axle is worn out. There is no repair for it. Due to the design of these, the pivots wear and there is no repair that I know of,so, Has anyone else had this problem ? How to fix it ? I am afraid it may be the end of the little tractor. I bought it new and it has about 600 hrs.

that can be fixed,but it might be pretty costly.youll have to have the whole front axel replaced.so id go talk to your dealer an have his machanic look at it an see if they can replace it.

I believe the AC5020 is the same basic tractor as the Hinomoto 2304 and Massey Ferguson 1030. You may try looking for a donor axle from a parts tractor from one of those three models. I'm curious what the problem is with the pivot. How is it worn beyond repair exactly? I can remember a few posts about Hinomoto axle pivots that were worn...seemed like one of the problems was that some models used a bearing ( that is replacable) and another issue was front -to-back play that occured after a shim wore out and caused further wear of the pivot, which was reparable also. Are either of these the same issue or is it something else?

The 5020 pivot is metal to metal and it has worn until the top part of the pivot is down to the axle. The original problem was the bearing boss in the left frt hub assy broke out and that caused the gears not to mesh right and stripped the teeth. Now, a few years ago the casting that holds the bearing, cost about $1100.00 and I couldn't find a used one. It has set for awhile. I decided to look it over again and removed the axle and disassembled it and it is still busted, I need a complete axle, but I am somewhat afraid I will end up with the same problem because of the design. What would be good is to find a different axle with the same gear ratio and make it fit. I will check out the leads you gave and see how that works out. Thanks for the info.
