Well, it's time for our 50 hr service on the Workmaster 55. According to the manual, we need to change fuel filter, oil & filter, and hydraulic filter. My father called the dealer today to make sure they had all the filters in stock and here's the short story... fuel and hydraulic filters are in stock... but oil filters might not be. According to my father (who will admit he's not mechanically inclined and is also pretty hard of hearing) the parts rep said that the oil filter will depend on what FEL we have. We bought the tractor and FEL as a package from the dealer and according to the parts rep, he couldn't find the oil filter that went with that FEL.

I will readily admit I am no mechanic, but why would the oil filter depend on what FEL we have?

Sounds a little odd, but may be a clearance thing like short vs long filter. :confused3:

I'm not sure either but I get my oil filter at NAPA. Can you cross the OEM with another brand?

We bought the wm 55 in december and are VERY concerned as we have been waiting EVER since for our 12K (pd in full) bradco 509 backhoe...
I have zillion ?'s but i'll ask just one...
We want a backhoe with a hydrolic thumb to fit our tractor...we were told only bradco 509 and they actually had to engineer this?????????????????????????/
suppose to get it tomorrow FINALLY but i have a lot of concerns....submount is bolted and it looks like a GREAT loss of clearance and a concerned about submount effecting my 501 farmi winch...
Any thoughts, ideas?
PS i am a woman, i know very little about tractors(I do know when i being played though) and my husband is out of town....we are also new tractor owners
Any advice....THANKS!!

The subframe should stay attached to the hoe. (should say, mine is like that) When you remove the hoe, you remove the subframe. Winch would attach to the 3 pt hitch like normal. Hope that helps.

Almost forgot...:welcome: to TBN!

per new holland, they said this BRAND new engineered hoe IS INDEED A submount which is bolted on yet they said it stays on and are claiing it will NOT effect the operation of the winch...
so i guess that means it is hydrolic, which thumb is also (I am female and new to tractor...sorry don't have all the vocab or knowledge
do you also have a workmaster55??? new holland said

ONLY could do this bradco 509....but im not liking the sound of this new and great set up!!! I fear we waited 5 months for a ....PIA!

So, are you saying, the subframe stays with the tractor when the hoe is removed? If so, I wonder how the hoe is attached to the subframe.

Guess we find out tomorrow!

While I can't help you with the subframe, it seems Bradco advertises their 509 with either a mechanical or hydraulic thumb. Second paragraph of the description. Was yours the first?

Sorry jsmcobra201, I didn't realize there were two wm55 newbies asking questions in the same thread. I didn't notice that slayer51 was a different person. We sort of hijacked your question and I apologise.

I'm not a klutz with routine maintenance tasks, though I wouldn't dare to consider tearing down an engine or tranny. But I had the dealer come and do the 50 hr. service on my TC26DA and I'm glad I did. It cost a few bucks, but the guy gave me plenty of tips and such that make the job easier every 100 hours now. Just a suggestion to anyone with a first or new brand of tractor..
