Kioti LB1914
I am about to service the hydraulics, and was quoted about 80.00 for the Kioti backhoe (KB 2365) filter by the dealer. The original filter installed is a Parker 925023 There is a Wix filter for about $10 that according to a local parts place is a match for $10.00. Any reason not to use it?

Also, I'm wondering if it is really necessary to change hydraulic oil (as long as I change/clean the filters) at 50 hr. The oil looks clean in the window, and the tractor idled for a significant amount of time while I went "Hmmm, what next" during that 50 hr.

Thoughts? Thanks, C

For a cheaper price.. Try some online shops or call other dealers that are in this forum. I'm sure you could get it cheaper with shipping.

For anyone interested, I found the same filter for $12.08 (wholesale) at Grainger Industrial Supply: their stock # is 1R413. They provide detailed specifications, which is comforting. I think I'll order this instead of the Wix (no specs).

Grainger: Hydraulic Filter Elements and Spin-On Filters: Filtration: Pneumatics & Hydraulics

However, Grainger does not sell to consumers: if you are not a business you have to find a nearby branch using this tool:
Grainger Industrial Supply.

The branch should be able to give you the name of a retailer in your area, where the price is going to be higher. Trouble is, I have not found an outlet in my area, or a mail-order outlet.Grrrrr.

NOW - any thoughts about absolute necessity of a hydraulic oil change at 50 hr?

We buy them from the local hydraulics place.

You really don't need to change that oil/filter very often.
It has nothing to contaminate it.

When I was doing my 50 hour service on my CK 25, my dealer flat out told me that I only needed to change the filter. He said the fluid was good for 100 plus hours. He said I could change it if I realy wanted to but it shouldn't be a problem leaving it. I know what the manual says, but I figured if I have any problems I will be going back to the dealer anyway and I'm hopng he will stand behind what he preaches. By the way, I bought the filter from the dealer, I can't remember what I paid for it though, I don't think it was too much though.
Just my 2 cents.

BTI, an experienced contractor friend just got back into town, and he said about the same thing as you did. He also said the Wix filter is just fine: mine is branded by CarQuest #85553.

Thanks for the comments, folks.

So back to the dealer, asking ~$80 for a $10 filter. Can a Kioti dealer charge anything he wants for an OEM part in case of a mon-warranty repair???
