I just did the 50 hour oil change. I cant do the transmission yet as the dealer doesnt have the filter. Actually he seemed bemused why anyone would need one.

The oil filter that came with my 2210 iwas a slightly different size to the replacement. If the oil filter was hand tight I dont know what kind of wrists the filter installer must have. I had to resort to using a large adjustable wrench to move it. I hate doing that .

I had the same issue with my Cummins. Maybe the same gorilla works at both plants

It is hard to believe they didn't stock a trans filter. It makes me wonder what kind of service department they have. I could understand the strainer since it is washable, but the spin on filter is definitely a normal maintenance item. Unless maybe you are their first 2210 customer.

Don't worry. I hear that every 2210 (mine included) has the oil filter on HARD. Really hard. My replacement filter was also different in shape. Yanmar needs to adjust their Robots or Sweatshop Workers tightening ability on those filters. I assume Yanmar and Deere use a different supplier for the filters and thus the different filter. Also, a few months ago, Deere changed the part number of the Oil Filter.

When I purchased my Hydro filter... I had to order it too. When I asked why, the parts department said that people rarely do it. Farmers drive them and don't do a lot of servicing (I live in farm country). Don't understand that... but you would think they would have one on hand anyway, for the service department. As far as I know they share the parts department with us so why don't they have one? I just don't understand.

Our dealer didn't have any oil OR fuel filters in stock for our 4120. They said it has the new engine and they haven't got any stock yet...so they ordered extra when they ordered mine. At least they'll be shipping them to me from JD to my house for free. But still...no oil filters? This dealer though has more larger tractors since it's a rural dealer...and they have small tractors. Seems they don't keep a lot of the compact untility tractors in stock. Some, but not a lot. Seems like they had a bunch of 790's and 990's and then a bunch of much larger utility tractors.

I is more understandable when it is a new model such as the 4X20 series. ut the 2210 has been around a year or so now. I would think any dealer that sells them would have all filters in stock by this time.

Here's a better one - Getting ready to do a 50-hour service on my 790 and my dealer didn't have any Low-viscosity Hy-gard oil on hand! Although I found it through a diesel shop on the other side of the County, I was surprised that this particular transmission / hydraulic fluid was in such short supply. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

IMHO, have the dealer get the filter soon. At less than 50 hr.'s I found a very thick paste of hydro-soaked meatal filings in the screen. I can't imagine how the filter or screen could be filtering much at that point.

I'm nearly done with a full grease, lube, filter and fluid change again (276 hr.'s, after doing the "200" at 173 hr.s). Every thing that I've drained is not something I'd want running around in my CUT for very long.

When NAPA quoted me, the prices were more than DEERE. I wonder if location makes a difference?
