Well, it's finally time for the 50 hour service. Since I have a great Deutz dealer right near me, I think I'm going to have him come check up on the engine, since it's brand new(I've done business with him before, he's a great guy) but I'll be doing the hydraulic changes myself. Just a few questions on the bleeding process. PT gave me a new filter and a hose with a fitting on each end(one 90 degree fitting) I'm assuming this is the bleeder hose? I've been reading all the posts about bleeding and there isn't much on the diesel PT's. Is the procedure pretty much the same? Do I have to crank the engine? If so, what should I disconnect so the engine dosn't start up during cranking?

Thanks for your help.

Just a guess based on a variety of automotive diesels- There may be an electric fuel cutoff solenoid on the injection pump. It would likely be a cylindrical metal object with a single wire connected to it.

Disconnect the wire, and see if the engine will crank but not run. If so, you can now connect your bleed hose and follow the 425 bleeding procedure.

Alternatively, and probably smarter: Wait until Tuesday and call Terry at PT for instructions. I'm guessing. He KNOWS!

Yes, I think that's a better idea.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I made out just fine doing the filter change. I called up Terry, found out what had to be unplugged, put the new filter on, cranked the engine till a steady stream of oil flowed out, closed it up, and was on my way(after I greased everything, of course /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
The PT has been working great the past few weeks. I 'm in the process of digging a hole for my shed addition. I've already moved about 20 yards of material from the hole.
I'm so glad I bought it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
