5\' or 6\' Rear Blade for CK30

I am shopping for a rear blade for my CK30HST and was leaning toward getting the 5'. But after some seat time, I think it could handle a 6'. I have R4's and keep forgeting to take an actual measurement of the width with these tires - anyone know this width (can't get to the tractor till after I buy the blade)? Any opinions?

I will be cutting and maintaining driveway and path ditchs, spreading stone and plowing snow with it (until I can afford a blower). Soil is loam and clay, pretty heavy and sticky when wet.

Keith,

I just went out to the barn and measured it for you.

CK30 with R4 tires

I get 62" outside of tread to outside of tread.

Might mean 6' blade?

Les,

Thanks for the measurement /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I figured it was wider than 5'. Another good reason to lean toward the 6'.

No reason not to go with the 6' blade. The CK30 can handle easily, and it's wide enough to do most anything you need.

I have a CK30hst with R4's and it handles the 6' with no problem. The nice part is when you angle the 6', it's still as wide as the tractor. I've plowed snow, dirt and gravel with no strain in medium range. After seing and using a few blades from different manufactures, I finally found one that holds up. It's a Rhino 350. Here's their site if you care to look, www.servis-rhino.com. I sure there are other good blades out there but I bent up one from TSC. It was half the price but I would have been better off to spend the money up front.

Re: 5\' or 6\' Rear Blade for CK30

I bought the Woods RB72. Has performed very well so far. My first time taking the backhoe off went very smooth, so did the blade hook up - adjustable hitch arms work great. The whole switch took about thirty minutes - moving careful to get it right. Next time will be even quicker.

Only one small problem - the platform I have the hoe on is just tall enough and rear end of the tractor is just weighed down enough with the blade on that I can't park the tractor over the hoe frame to save space. I'll have to lower the platform next time I have the hoe on.

Go with the 6'. The tractor could pull 7' without a problem if you wanted to go that wide. Also if you ever turn the 6' blade at an angle, it cuts the width down close to 5'.
