5 FOOTER OR 6 FOOTER ???

I know I've asked about this before, but hopefully my new LS R3039H will be in this week, and I've got to decide on which box blade to get.
My dealer doesn't have a 66" in stock, so I've got to go with either a 5 or 6 footer. They carry the Howse HD box blades. I want to get it with the tractor, so it can be delivered all at once.

Any one here pulling a 6' with a 3039?

Mntnview made some good points about getting a heavy duty unit, but also not too big to where the tractor has to struggle to use it to capacity.

Just wondering what you other 3039 owners are using.??

I don't own a 3039 but would go with a 6'. You want to cover your tracks. Also that extra foot in weight would make better ballast for FEL use. Just MO.

Do you have any serious grading to do? If not, I would opt for the 6'. While my BB is considerably smaller (54" left over from my old tractor), I don't pull a full box very often ---- nor do I want to. Most of what I do is touch up stuff ---- suspect that's the case for most of us. On the other hand, if you need to do a lot of serious grading that will require you to pull the full box on a frequent basis, you might be frustrated cause I don't think this tractor will do that very easily. My opinion ------------------

I've got about 600+ ft of driveway to ditch, reshape and maintain. I also have about two acres that I had cleared with a trackhoe for my building site, and it needs root removal, leveling, and smoothing out from the heavy equipment work.

The tires aren't here yet. Should be tomorrow but who knows how long the dealer will take to switch them...

my 28hp McCormick (built by ls) pulls a 6ft tsc box blade full of dirt with the rippers down no problem in medium range. i just use the draft control to manage the amount of dirt in the box blade when i am grading. the only time i have a problem is when i hit a soft spot and the tires dig faster than the draft control responds because it does not put enough pressure on the top link as soon as you lose traction. I have not tried to rip up any roots so i am no help there.

I have a 5 ft (all I could find at the time when I needed it) that I use the my I3040h (previous model to the 3039). I would definately get a 6 ft. I cannot see it having any trouble pulling the 6 ft.
