4WD gear case lubricants

HI, I bought a used B2150 and am changining all fluids. I am in the process of changing the 4wd front axle gear cases and per the owners manual was prepareed to us 80/90w oil. I drained one of the cases and to my surprise its not 80/90w - it looks like hydrolic fluid? I have read posts where people mentioned that you can use either lubricants. Because of the climate in my area - very rarely below 32 and often over 100 degrees - and since I have the 80/90w oil in my posession, I prefer to use the 80/90w oil. So, is it OK to proceed with using the 90w oil and mixing it with the risidual hydrolic fluids on the gear cases or should I refill with hydrolc fluid?

In my BX22 I can use 80/90 gear-oil or hyd fluid. Since hyd fluid does not have the same fluid protection as gear fluid, I re-filled my BX22 with Amsoil Series 2000 75w-90 and that was it. Fill for life.

I think Kubota does that so the customer does not have to buy all different fluids and maybe install them wrong. It is nice for filling all fluids with same fluid type, but I think you compromise with protection of the gears a little.

My dealer filled my BX front axle with gear oil. I'd think you'd want the viscosity and lubricity (if this isn't a word, I'll see about getting it added to the dictionary) of gear oil instead of hydraulic oil.

straight gears realy don't need ep protection of gear oil i was thinking. most manufactures recommend hydro fluid or something like 75w-90 that is about a 5w-30 oil so it's basicaly the same fluid visc. as hydro fluid i'm thinking w/o looking at conversion chart.
