re rising prices....if it is made of steel the price is going/gone up. If it came on a diesel truck (everything you buy) the fuel surcharges being added to freight are making prices go up.
My advice- if is steel and heavy and you want it, buy it now, it will only be higher later:(
Example- I was looking at some RVs last weekend- the normal $700 freight charge had over $300 in fuel surcharges added on

That sounds like a lot for a 48" box scraper. In 2006 I bought a Bush Hog 6' for around $600.

But that's 2 years ago before the price of steel and fuel went crazy.

I've considered it, but I think it is just too big for my B2620. 54" is what is recommended, and I have heavy clay soil. I'm guessing 60" will be fine most of the time, but it will often bog down. I wish I could play around with one first to see what works well.

Seapea- Go with the 60" one, you won't regret it. Even with my BX24 and the box blade scarfacers all the way down in gravel or tough soil, I had no problem. I would be VERY surprised if your B2620 would have a hard time with the 6 extra inches and I bet you will be happier in the long run with the added width.

seapea,

I pull a 60" KK with a whipped out Ford 1310 (19 HP when new) and have no problem in very rocky ground.

I guess I need to ponder this some more. The good thing about the KK is that it is cheap, and I could probably resell it pretty easily. I'd save about $250 over the cheapest dealer offering for a 54". I actually was real close to buying the 60" KK, and even had it on hold, but then changed my mind after reading some older posts on the forum. Some members said that they could even stop a larger B series like a B2910 with a 60" when pulling a full load of clay.

Might also be that 48" is unusual size for that dealer to stock. For example, the dealer near me stocks 60" and 72". For him, a 48" would be a special order with no quantity discounts (i.e. more expensive). Last year, I saved a hundred on a 72" Bush Hog (final cost $400) because the paint was chipped in a few places. It was a brand new unit (no signs of use or wear) but because it sat on the lot for a year or so - the dealer wanted to get rid of it as he had just gotten several new ones right off the truck. Looking around and moving to a more common size might help.

BTW - if you are trying to use it to dig into the ground vice just spreading dirt - especially to cut down ruts in VA clay - weight can/does matter. One way to get around it with a lighter blade is to deploy fewer sacrificers at any given time (i.e. put more weight on fewer points)

My two cents.
