Am looking to get a snowblower for my 2520. I priced a front mount 54" w/ quick hitch for $3600. I was told the 47" was approx 150 less so @ 3450. That was a no brainer go for the 54".
My question: I see a 47" snowblower on-line for $1475 at the moment. I assume it will go for @ $2k. It came off a x575. Would this fit a 2520? I am pretty sure I would have to buy the quick hitch and a correct length shaft? Any thoughts?
I have also thought of getting a frontier sb1154 rear snowblower. Of course that "makes"me put rear hydraulics on for the chute. Anyone have a price on putting a rear scv on a 2520?

The JD 3rd SCV kit will run around $860. I had the dealer install mine 6 months after I purchased the tractor and the total cost was around $1100. If you are willing to get intimate with your tractor there are also DYI kits available which will add one, two or three SVCs.

We had a 47" for one year on our 2520 before we upgraded to the 54". If you are going the new route...go with the no brainer, the 2520 can handle it. If you go with the 47", you may depending on your terrain and surface want to move the rear tires in the narrow position (valves to the inside) as this will give you a little more clearance inside the width of the 47".

Attached is a spreadsheet I found at Mutton Equipment and modified. It should help you in regards to what brackets/attachments and pto shaft would work with your 2520. You also mentioned you saw a 47" on-line and I assume that means Craigslist or Ebay. Have you also checked out Machine Finder and TractorHouse for local dealer listings?

Good luck in your search.

The JD SCUT/CUT tractors need 2 double u-joints to form a 'V' under the front MFWD axle, so the drive shaft to the blower is different than that used for the JD L&G tractors ('X' series). I know, because I used to have a JD L&G tractor with the 47" blower. I upgraded to JD 1026R with the 54" blower.

If you have a fair size area to remove snow from, the 54" is the only way to go. It saves time & the SCUT/CUT engine has ample torque to blast snow out of it. I love mine.

Good luck............

Thanks for the advice. My driveway is about 900' long but flat. I just used my neighbors 47" for the last 10" storm. Worked great but the tires were wider than the blower so the rear tires were always in the snow. I am going with the 54", I just need to come up with $3600!

As I said in another post, I'm sure a front blower is nice, however, speaking from my own experience it's really nice having the bucket /forks in place when needed, without having to remove a SB etc etc. I already had rear SCV for the MMM so that was a non issue. Some have suggested that the manual handle on (some) rear mount SB's is mounted close enough that adjustment is not a problem. I don't find swiveling around in the seat a bit to see rearward is that much of a problem with eHydro.
Front or rear mount, snow will still blow in your face if the wind is right.
Probably a lot more choice for aftermarket new or used with rear SB and even factoring in cost of rear SCV, might be less $$$ than front mount.

I clear about 12,000sqft, so probably comparable to your 900' driveway. With a 54" will probably require three passes to get a nice clean/wide path.

Not sure where you got that from. My 4115 uses a drive shaft for the front pro that has one u joint. There are two carrier bearings in the front bracket vs one for the heavy duty garden tractors. I have owned a few 445's, and one with the front mount snow blower. The drive shaft for them is different, but still only one u joint.

I see you've made a choice already, but just in case you change your mind....
The 47 blower from a 445/455 585 etc will work fine on your machine. If you already have the front mount/hitch set up, the only thing you will need is the correct pto shaft and a new up stop on the blower.

Got it from my Deere dealer. The drive shaft has to make a 'V' bend under the front axle to get to the snowblower drive shaft. So it has 2 double u-joints. It is pretty funky.

If I remember (ha!) I'll take a photo & post it.

The 4115 is likely high enough off the ground that the front drive PTO shaft can go straight out the front. The 445 actually had a hole (!) in the front solid cast iron axle for the front PTO drive shaft to go through. I remember it well.

Yep, the 445 has the hole in the front axle.

The OP was asking about a blower for his 2520 though, and it is the direct replacement for the 4115. Same exact frame, front and rear axles, everything except for a few added cc's for the engine and a few more lbs lift on the 3pt hitch. His front drive shaft should be like mine I would have to believe (unless they changed them for some reason that I am unaware of).
