I have a b2150 tractor. There is a 4690 backhoe for sale, like new for $4200. Is this a reasonable price? (Owner says he paid $5800.) Also, more importantly, is it designed to fit a 2150 tractor? How do the 3 point hitch backhoes, compare to the subframe type?

That’s a good price. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I’m not sure how big a 2150 is compared to a 27-2910. Kubota rates the 2410 for the 4672 and the 4690 for 27-2910 and above.

I take delivery of a new 4690 today.
I choose the 4690 because all the sub frame models interfere with my MMM mounts.

I've got a 4690 and am very please with it. $4200 is a great price - I'd jump on it.

I posted a note with some pages from teh 4690 installation guide that lists the brackets etc required for mounting on different tractors. A search for 3PH brackets should produce it. I'm also quite sure the 4690 is fine on a 2150, but you will likely need to add a heavy duty top link bracket and you may need to add frame braces to the under side of the tractor. If the post doesn't spell it out, let me know and I'll look it up in the manual for you.

Thanks guys for the information! The fellow selling the backhoe is willing to take $4000.00 for it. It has a 18"-24" shovel on it. When I mentioned a heavy duty top link bracket, he said that the 4690 is made with the bracket as a part of the equipment. So........, not being mechanically inclined, I really couldn't question it. I did call a Kubota dealer and he said that one costs $63.00. Whatever the case, the guy is willing to show me how the backhoe performs on his tractor (not sure what model) and if I'm not satisfied with the performance then I'm not obligated. He used it for digging pipe lines. The paint is not even worn off the bucket, and the whole thing looks brand new. However, is there any obvious thing on it that I should look for to be bent or damaged

The most common items I saw when looking at used Backhoes were.

1. Rust pits on cylinder rod shafts. This will cause seal failure.
2. Badly worn or kinked hoses.
3. Loose pivot pins and bushings that had not been properly greased.
4. Oil seal leaks.

All of these should be easy to inspect if you are going to test it before you buy it.

Couple of other questions: Can I use the backhoe without my front end loader on the tractor as a counterbalance? (I assume the back wheels axle becomes the pivot point when the backhoe is installed.) Also, can I leave my mid mount mower on the tractor when installing and using the backhoe, or do I have to take it off first?

Not according to the manual. At over 900 lbs you will need the FEL as a counter weight. It’s also used to stabilize tractor when using Backhoe.

Manual says you can pin it in the up position. With the MMM on you may limit movement of tractor with the low clearance.

Hello,

1-Loader needs to be planted in the ground vertically, until the fron wheels start to lift off.

2-Stabilizers on the 4690 lift the back of the tractor until one or both of the wheels "lightly touch" the ground--in some cases, one wheel is completely off the ground. In other words, the rear wheels are not the pivot point.

3-$4200 is a great price

4-The heavy duty bracket is REQUIRED for all but Grande series

Good luck,

Tom
